HorrorGirl Happenings April 1st – April 7th: The Dead Don’t Die + The Twilight Zone + Spookshow 7

Viddy This:

The Dead Don’t Die. Ok, a zombie movie with an insane all-star cast, (Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, Caleb Landry Jones, Iggy Pop, RZA, Selena Gomz, Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny, Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, Sara Driver, Carol Kane and Tom Waits) is announced on April Fool’s Day… is it a joke or a HorrorGirl’s dream come true? There’s a trailer and a release date. So I think Focus Features is really gifting us with this undead goodness! Check out the trailer:

Twilight Zone on CBS All Access hosted by Jordan Peele. The first episode is up on YouTube for free, but the rest of the season requires a subscription ($5.99/month or $9.99/month for no commercials). You can sign up for a one week trial, but only two of the ten episodes have been released so far. The Grove had a Twilight Zone popup experience over the weekend to promote the show’s premiere and I’m pretty bummed I missed it! If you were able to check it out, let me know how it was.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 is coming to Netflix this Friday. Check out the latest promo:

Stephen King rules! Pet Sematary hits theaters this Friday, with select screenings Thursday night. So far looks like at least one major switch to the original story in the trailer. Overall vibe is creepy AF though, looking forward to seeing what they did with it. Also, so on board with John Lithgow as Jud.

Halloween Club’s 7th Annual Spookshow is this Saturday! 12-7pm, tickets are free. Creepy vendors and entertainment, major Halloween Club sales and an all around celebration of Halloween in April. Creepy Cousins vended the last two and it was such an amazing experience. Meeting you guys is seriously our favorite part of running the company and we are so sad to be missing out this year. But go forth and creep extra hard for us! Head to their website to get your free tix.

Monsterpalooza isn’t until next weekend, but this thing has really been growing in popularity over the last couple of years, so make sure to get your tickets in advance. This lineup is one of the coolest I’ve seen yet and it’s the most sad I’ve been to miss out since the What We Do In the Shadows guys were in attendance. Bruce Campbell and Paul Reubens are enough to make me cry a little. The only good thing about having to miss this one is knowing I won’t be able to embarrass myself in front of Danielle Harris next weekend.

HorrorGirl Happenings March 25th-March 31st: What We Do in the Shadows, Joe Bob is BACK + I Like Scary Movies Immersive Experience

What We Do in the Shadows was by far my favorite movie of 2014. I show it to anyone I can, because it’s brilliant and amazing and feels like it still hasn’t fully gotten the recognition it deserves on a wider scale. But then when you meet someone who can quote it with you, I guess it’s sort of like being in a cool little club. But I digress…. the film has now been made into a SERIES, and is premiering March 27th on FX. This time, the documentary crew will be following three vampires in New York, so we’ve got new characters and a new cast but original creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi are still behind this which makes me pretty confident it will be nothing short of fucking brilliant and maybe even my new favorite show.

The-Last-Drive-In

The countdown to weekly Joe Bob is coming down to the final wire… weekly does star THIS FRIDAY, March 29th on Shudder. Can’t wait to partake in all the drive-in goodness!

Horror Happenings March 2019

Your most humble HorrorGirl is presently on a gig that requires being away for most of the week. This translates to less horror viewing and waaaay less horror related event attendances. So, do me a favor. Use this calendar to let me live vicariously through you until I’m back at it full force. And if you tell me about your experience attending one of these events, I’m sure it will help to soothe some of the aching in this little black heart. Missing all you creeps immensely. Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin Performs Suspiria LIVE @ Catch One Los Angeles

goblin

Suspiria, (and of course I am referring to Argento’s 1977 cinematic feast for the eyes) is something near and dear to my blackened yet sentimental heart. I’ve watched it many times.. but never… with the score… performed… fuckin’ LIVE. Continue reading Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin Performs Suspiria LIVE @ Catch One Los Angeles
